چکیده

The increasing prevalence of large-scale labor aggregation platforms, worker analytics, and algorithmic decision-making by management raises the question whether workers can use similar technologies to advocate for their own goals. Yet, there are inherent challenges in building worker-centric tools that collect, aggregate, share data responsible ethical ways. In this paper, we present design deployment Shipt Calculator, a tool developed collaboration with non-profit groups allows app-based delivery track aggregate about pay, wage transparency. We first discuss technologies, particularly informally organized workers, ground our discussion history inquiry co-research. then describe some principles from lessons designing Calculator be applied future researchers advocates seeking build technical organizing campaigns. Knowledge Extraction from the Neural ‘Black Box’ in Ecological Monitoring

Phytoplankton biomass within the Saginaw Bay ecosystem (Lake Huron, Michigan, USA) was characterized as a function of select physical/chemical indicators. The complexity and variability of ecological systems typically make it difficult to model the influences of anthropogenic stressors and/or natural disturbances. Here, Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) were developed to model chlorophyll a con...

Opening the Black Box

Controversy over the aggregate impact of foreign aid has focused on reduced form estimates of the aid-growth link. The causal chain, through which aid affects developmental outcomes including growth, has received much less attention.
